Invest. Advise. Educate.
Edwin didn't set out to become an investor. He trained as an aerospace engineer and later earned an MBA — a combination that gave him a strong analytical foundation, but also taught him that good decisions rarely come from numbers alone. He sees investing as a discipline that requires both rigorous analysis and judgement: the ability to weigh trade-offs, question assumptions and remain open-minded when the answers aren't clear-cut.
After gaining industrial experience at Thales, Edwin joined Morgan Stanley, where he advised family offices, foundations and high-net-worth individuals. He eventually headed the bank's wealth management business in the Benelux and chaired the Investment Committee of its Swiss pension fund. During his time at Morgan Stanley, he also worked with a Luxembourg-based family office. He later joined Jefferies International Wealth Management.
In 2015, Edwin co-founded NGEN Capital in London with former Morgan Stanley colleagues. The firm was built around a conviction that as financial businesses grow, it becomes harder to preserve the combination of flexibility, aligned incentives and genuine focus on the client's interests that matters most. The philosophy was closely aligned with the owner-oriented approach that Buffett and Munger have advocated for decades.
When Brexit changed the landscape, Edwin sold his stake in NGEN Capital and turned his full attention to the Brand Capital Fund, which he co-founded and continues to manage. The fund is built around the same core principles: invest with the mindset of a business owner, focus on quality and remain disciplined about valuation and risk.
Alongside managing the fund, Edwin advises a small number of families and entrepreneurs. He provides independent research, a second opinion on investments and help assessing wealth managers. In his experience, some of the most important risks are not immediately visible: fees that are difficult to identify, incentives that are not fully aligned, or risks hidden beneath an attractive proposition. Having seen enough similar situations over the years, he believes his greatest value is often not in pointing people towards another good investment, but in helping them avoid a bad decision.
Edwin also enjoys helping younger people find their way into investing. His central lesson is simple: think like an owner of a business, not a trader looking at a ticker. Starting early can make a meaningful difference over time, but learning to look at investments as pieces of real businesses is just as important.
Beyond investing, Edwin follows broader societal developments closely, particularly the energy transition and its impact on industries and the businesses he studies. This is an important part of his interest in impact investing, where he looks for opportunities at the intersection of financial returns and positive environmental and societal change. He also has experience evaluating businesses from both an investment and impact perspective.
Away from work, Edwin has a background in aviation, having trained as a private pilot. He enjoys skiing, running and spending time with family and friends. He lives with his high-school girlfriend, and together they have a family of five children. More recently, he has developed a passion for specialty coffee and is working on his skills as a barista.
